HA50MHZ SPECIAL CALLSIGN

A new licence has been issued for the year 2007. The callsign can now be alive until 31 December 2007!

After many-many years of longing, the 50 MHz band finally became a legal band in Hungary.

Since 29 March 2006, all Hungarian stations with the appropriate licence level (CEPT-equivalent licence) are granted access to the 50-52 MHz band with a power limit of 10W ERP.

It is a great feeling to have been a little part of this succcess, and to celebrate the band-opening, I am using the special HA50MHZ callsign until 31 December.
I will be QRV as much as can, but as I also have family & work, I cannot guarantee to be on air in all ES openings... I have already missed some this year :-(

My 6m RIG is IC-7400 / FT-897 / FT-817 transceiver, antennas avalailable: HB9CV, dipole, GP.

A searchable LOG of the activity can be found at the following URL: http://www40.brinkster.com/ha5x/log-ha50mhz.asp

I will send QSL cards after the end of the activity (i.e. next year) - when I see how many cards I need to get printed. Until then, all QSOs will be regularly uploaded to LOTW and eQSL.

ACTIVITY NEWS UPDATES

1 Feb 2007:
HA50MHZ LICENSED AGAIN. Today I got a new licence for the HA50MHZ callsign. It is valid until 31 December 2007. I hope I will be able to work more stations on 6m this year.

3 Jan 2007:
I have a new, permanent VHF/UHF antenna: a Diamond V2000, also usable on 6m. I hope that having an antenna always up in the air will bring me more contacts.

15 June 2006:
HA50MHZ LICENCED FOR 150W and gain antenna!
54 Hungarian stations - including HA50MHZ - are now licenced to use a maximum RF output power of 150 W and antennas up to 6dB gain on the 50-52MHz band until 15 September 2006. The list of stations is currently only available in an Excel sheet at http://www.mrasz.hu/portal/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=148

50-52 MHz is generally allocated to amateur radio in HA with up to 10W ERP. The primary aim of the experiment is to determine whether higher power privileges would cause interference problems to television broadcasting.

21 May 2006:
HA50MHZ LOG ONLINE. From today on I will upload my HA50MHZ log to the server. URL: http://www40.brinkster.com/ha5x/log-ha50mhz.asp

17 May 2006:
NEW 6M EXPERIMENT. Since 29 March the 50-52MHz band is open to all CEPT-level licencees, but only with a maximum power of 10W ERP. The National Communications Authority (NHH) has invited the Hungarian Amateur Radio Society (MRASZ) to take part in an experiment which is aimed at answering the question whether or not a higher power limit would impose threat to the primary band usage: broadcasting. A maximum of 100 stations can take part in the experiment with up to 150W RF power and antennas with up to 6 dB gain. MRASZ is currently advertising to find participants for the experiment. Details of the experiment, dates, selected stations, etc. will be published later.

16 May 2006:
So far I have about 50 QSOs, with the following countries: HA, DL, OZ, LA, SM, OH, 9H. But we are just starting the ES season.
